Problem With Jason

I'm not really sure if this is an okay place to post this thread, but I really need to vent!

So anyhow, a little background info.

We picked up Kazz and it was determined that he is technically Jason's, meaning that if Jason were to move out or such, Kazz would go with him. Not too long ago, we aquired Lily. Yes, Jason drove his car when we went to pick her up in Hamilton. And after talking with Penny, we worked out an agreement to keep her.
Now at that point, it was determined that she will be mine. She stays in my room, I feed and change her water, I clean her cage, do spot checks, spend more time with her, etc. I do everything for her. I also paid for a new bucket wheel for her, and a teeter tooter (which obviously Kazz uses too).

Now the problem. I do have plans to move to Newfoundland eventually. When, that is uncertain, could me late summer, could be a couple of years. Anyhow. Jason is being a dick about all of this.

After his initial comment about it being stupid to move to Newfoundland, his next comment was "You do know that if you move to Newfoundland, Lily stays here with me." I was absolutely appalled! and I am seriously upset and pissed right now!

I argued that I care for her and we agreed that she is mine! I am in no way a bad or incapable owner! My lily gets anything.
His arguement: "I am part owner and drove out to get her."
What the ****!

I am soooo sorry for the curse words in this. Please forgive me, but I am very upset at this moment.

What am I to do?????

I don't know very much about your situation, but is is possible that Jason is lashing out at you for wanting to move? If he is hurt by you moving, he may be trying to hurt you back.

I think I would give it some time for both of you to settle down, and then maybe discuss it again.

i am pretty sure it is partly lashing out because i want to move, but i think its borderline controlling me as well...ever since hes moved in ive relied and depended on him for a lot of things. now its backfiring largely in my face...

but its still not fair. and even after calming down, he will not change his answers...thats just Jason.

When it comes to ownership of animals it depends on who purchased the animal. I know it sounds cold but that is the law, animals are considered property. So if you paid for her, and have the reciept or the person you purchased her from can vouch for your ownership then she is yours.

she was not "purchased". She came to us to breed with Kazz, and Penny agreed to let me keep her after i begged and told her that if Lily has a litter, she gets a hoglet...
so technically, no money exchanged, no receipt...

hemi_ my girl has a very good point!! Although I already "gave" her to YOU Janine! which means she is yours (NOT Jasons) which also mean you keep ownership of her- unless otherwise specified-- and I will even make up a contract/receipt for you if the need be!- Just let me know hun!:)

Legally it doesn't make a different who came to my house and picked her up- although you it was both of you!! As the Law states: "possession is 9/10 the law"- and she is in your posession which makes her yours!!;)

I totally agree and I'm sure that Penny will have her papers. So you can inform Penny about the situation. I wouldn't tell Jason this though right now because he might throw more of a fit and figure a way around it? Besides, what he gets Kazz and Lily that's not fair! There are two of you and two hedgies it only seems logical...

yes, i agree with all of you!
Penny has given me Lily's pedigree, and Jason doesnt not have it!!!

BUT Penny, if you could and you don't mind. i would love it if you wrote up some contract or something.

and no its not fair that Jason would keep Lily and Kazz. I do EVERYTHING for lily including some things for Kazz too. Jason has done NOTHING for lily except drive me out to Penny's to get her!!
