So a while ago (last summer)- Murdoc was having issues with not wanting to eat his kibbles. We went back and forth to the vet and ruled out everything mouth related. As far as we could tell there was nothing wrong with him.

The vet suggested I try Science Diet Kitten- and sure enough he ate it up. He had lost quite abit of wait while he wasnt eating his hard food- so the kitten helped him gain some of that back- and then some. He got to be quite the porker. So I weened him onto the adult, and then the diet.

Ive decided now enough is enough with the SD. I dont care for it as a food at all- I think its overpriced junk. I want to get him back on what the other boys are eating. So tonight I mix 30 Royal Canin Slim 27 (or 37 or whatever it is) kibbles in with his SD.

He goes over, sniffs the bowl and looks at me. Sniffs it again, and looks at me. Goes into the corner and poops (he knows he is supposed to use his litter box darnit!) and then goes back to his bowl and sniffs at it. I can tell he wants his food- but isnt going to eat it so long as there is that -good stuff- in there. So he goes into his igloo, looking rather tiffed at me.

I take his bowl out and put a tiny bit more SD in there, mix it up, and put the bowl back into his cage. Ive never seen a hedgie move so fast. The bowl hadnt even been on the ground for 10 seconds and he was out of his igloo with his nose in there chowing down.

How much do you want to bet he will eat around all the RC kibbles tonight? ;)

hahaha, silly Murdoc. I've never looked at that SD crap, does it have some sort of liquid or whatever that you could pour over his kibble, and gradually wean him off that? lol.

Did it with baby food once- that created even more problems with getting him to try and eat just normal kibbles!

And I agree, it is crap. But its the only food I can get him to eat thus far...there isnt much else I can do that I havent already tried. :dunno: He has gone for days without eating before instead of eating his "good" food. That isnt good either. I figure its better to eat junk than not eat at all.

Hehe, and the results? No food eaten besides the 4 or 5 kibbles he ate last night, and no water either.

You win Murdoc.

BRAT!!

hahaha, you're not the only one, Laura. Every night, after I turn the light off, I have to wake Hemi up so she'll come play. I have to hold her bag open for her, so she can walk out like a princess... *rolls eyes*
