Never, ever, EVER heat rocks. They are totally useless for any type of animal, and can cause severe burns.
If you want to go with a heat lamp, try a ceramic heat bulb-

They give off a nice even heat, and no light- so it wont disturb you or your hedgie.
Another way to go is with a human heating pad set on LOW under one part of your hedgies cage. It does not actually go in the cage, just underneath it on the outside. Keep in mind however that this will only heat up the area directly above it. The rest of the cage will still need to be warm as well. Temps for hedgies need to be at LEAST 73*F- and some need it even warmer than that. You can buy digital thermometers at Walmart for less than $5 so you can keep track of the temp in and around your hedgies cage.
And yet another idea, a space heater that will heat up the entire room.

I would think that this could burn a hedgie, especially as I think that they have pretty thin skin/fur in some spots. I have a snugglesafe disc that I put in when it is particularly cold, otherwise I just use a small space heater that has a temp control

What I recommend is picking up a small reptile heating pad at your local pet store. Paste it to the bottom underside corner of the cage. if your hedgehog is cold, he can go to the pad, if not he can move off it.
I've used the reptile heating pads for the better part of 13 yrs and have never had a problem with them. They don't get hot enough to melt thee cage or burn your hedgehogs or anything like that.
You can also use a human heating pad or a snuggle safe dish (need to microwave every 12 hours or so).
I've melted the side of a cage with a heat lamp, and I've heard you shouldn't use heat rocks with any animal.

The best bet is to keep the room at the proper temps so that the animal is warm no matter what they are doing. If you only provide proper heat in a sleeping area, the hedgehog won't get out and run around because she'll be cold.
