Hi everyone! I just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Staci, and my girlfriend and I live in NJ with our 2 (soon to be 3..4..5...) chinchillas Talula (standard) and Cleo (Black Velvet). We've had our girls for about 2 years now, and are interested in learning as much as we possibly can about these little critters.
We will be relocating to NC soon, and have been discussing starting up a rescue for unwanted and mistreated chins. We've noticed the overwhelming amount of people who get these pets because they seem a novelty at the time of purchase, but soon start neglecting the fact that they need constant care and attention. Chinchillas seem to have the same affect as Dalmations on certain people. They are adorable and children always want one strictly for the "cute-factor", but parents come to realize it was a bad choice and the chin is left homeless and abandoned. So, hopefully soon we'll be able to do our part to aid these chins back to loving homes.
