So now that I've got your attention, I'll throw it out there. :D
I just got back from an extremely long car ride, and I have now obtained (or have been obtained by) my second Hedgehog, a young Pinto male. He's a REAL sweetheart, and while Rouge is far, far more tame than she used to be, I can tell a difference in personalities, as this second Hedgie came from a knowledgable breeder. Aside from the fact that he wants to EAT Yesterday's News (is that a problem?), he's a great little guy.
But the fact remains that he does not have a name as of yet! I've toyed with several: Kennedy, Patriot, Coffee, and the list goes on. But this is where you all come in! If you would be so kind, I'd REALLY appreciate some name recommendations, as I'm sure he'd love to have a name. Here are some pictures to help you all ponder over it.

I personally like Kennedy. LOL.
he sure is a cute little guy though...and don't worry, Hemi tried to eat Yesterday's News when I first put it in her cage. The novelty wore off and she just carries it around now.

I just have to say that is one of the cutest little pug noses I have seen on a hedgie :) Congrates on the new baby, and since I can't even pick names for myself I'll leave it at that ;)

Okay - I'm in love! Toooo irresistable! I'm just visiting here from the chinnie section, but this baby is toooooo cute. Maybe my managerie needs a hedgie. From those of you that have chins or guinea pigs (already here) - how would you compare the hedgie in terms of personality, feeding, etc. I don't know anyone with a hedgie. I have a veritable zoo, but each of my babies is individually loved and cared for and, most important, is here for life!

I have had a guienne pig, he was great. My hedgehog is only 3 months old. She sleeps ALL day & wakes up around 2 am when I, unfortunately, am asleep. She lets you hold her & she is just so cute. I'm hoping she stays awake more as she gets alittle older. Hedgehogs don't eat as much as guienne pigs. They eat high quality cat food, meal worms, crickets, fruits & veg but they usually potty in one corner of the cage (not like my guienne pig did!) We are animal lovers here. I have wondered about getting a chin, could you send some info?

Had guinea pigs for 4 yrs now. They eat, poop, are more cuddly, and are awake during the day. They love fresh fruits and veggies. Pretty much they are laid-back critters.
Chinchillas are adorable and by contrast, pretty hyperactive(at nite - lol). I am really generalizing here, but they tend to be less cuddly (but not necessarily less loving), have more delicate digestive tracts (NO fruits or veggies). My biggest concern is that they are somewhat delicate - about what they are fed, the temperature (<75-80), humidity. You have to understand these things before you get one. In Florida, this is a problem. But that being said, they are absolutely one of the cutest things on earth. They have little "hands" that reach out for and grasp Cheerios, get attached to you (okay, as the food-bearer), recognize the rustle of wax paper (again, Cheerios), etc. They can literally bounce off the walls - lol. And again - really really cute with lots of personality! Definitely worth the "trouble." Mine are litter trained - for the pee at least. The little poops are alot like the piggies and just go everywhere. Alot more fun to watch at play than the GPs.
What does a hedgie do? The nocturnal part doesn't bother me, with 2 chins and a hamster (read that - 3 wheels). Do you get stabbed with the quills? Are mealies disgusting to feed - lol? Thanks for the cross-references! It's always easier to compare it to something you're used to.

If you want to cuddle with your hedgehog during the day, go ahead. They will wake up and play during the day, if woken up. It's just a matter of gradually changing their sleep patterns. Hemi will wake up and wait for me to play with her when I get home from school at 5pm for a while, and then go back to sleep. Then, I wake her up again at 9pm for cuddle time.
