Okay, so Lily is a major climber, but doesn't climb when she has her wheel.
Now for my dilemma. In a few days I have to remove her wheel (getting closer to her due date).
Now I KNOW that as soon as I remove it, she will go back to climbing her cage and falling to the bottom over and over again! I dont want her doing this at all in the first place, but especially now being so close to her due date!
Any ideas on how I can curb this behaviour?? I have tried putting in toys, fleece, and TP rolls...nothing, she couldnt care less! just climbing and climbing and a lot of falling!
Please help me...

Try moving her to a Sterilite bin cage that she can't climb.
When is her due date?

when i discovered wolfgang is a major climber as well, i simply inserted walls of cardboard in his cage that completely cover the grids on the inside. now he just has solid walls that he cant climb up; he doesnt even try anymore.

I've had females climb the walls like that before, and they didn't have any problems with their litters. Just make sure she doesn't escape the cage...that's when you run into problems. Might try giving her toys or want not to keep her distracted.

What do you use for bedding? If not liners it might be helpful just to add an extra layer of bedding just for "softer landings". If there is no way to prevent her from climbing at least you can prevent any possible damages.
Hope you little girl has an easy delivery and some beautiful hoglets! Honestly though, what hoglets aren't beautiful? :)

she is in a rubbermaid bin, that is her "cage", but she climbs up onto whatever house she has in there, reaches as far as she can, grabs and then tries to climb, then falls...i use pine bedding, so i guess when i remove the wheel i will just double up on the pine! lol
