Rei was bred to Dakota who is my Chocolate white male. I've heard that two whites should not be bred because it is deadly to the mother and hoglets. It's something known as the lethal factor. I just found this out recently but since Rei was a snowflake no worries :)

Oh, and I just got a look at Dakota and Rei...I must say, Dakota is one handsome guy. I love the dark eyed whites... And Rei is just gorgeous!

Dakota is actually out on a date this week ;) he's a ladies man I tell you (He was also shacking up with Snuggles the good part of this past week) He's going to need a LONG break.

I had no clue there was a "lethal" factor with hedgehogs. I knew there was such a thing as a lethal white with aussies and with overo paint horses but never with hedgehogs. Learn something new everyday I suppose.
Once again, beautiful hedgehogs! From a quick glace they almost look blue in color! Very unique!

I've never heard of a lethal factor either and I know the question has been asked many times.

I didn't hear about it til recently, I guess it's been tried in the past and the mother aborted the hoglets and died herself. Again I'm just letting everyone know what I heard. I also looked on Dakota's pedigree (DEW male) and all of the breedings were snowflake to DEW but never DEW to DEW. Same thing with Bianca's pedigree (even though this isn't her litter)
