I was just wondering how many vegies and fruits my hedgie can have for a treat each week? I gave Snowball a few Pieces of Bell Peppers for being a VERY good girl while I cut her nails and she loved them. I want to reward her for doing good on stuff, but don't want to overdo it on treats. Is it one or two mealies a week? I get different answers on that. And if I give her one mealie a week how many bits of fruits/veggies can she have in the same week?

Thank you,
Firefly

You can give her a few mealies 2-3 times per week unless she is overweight. She can have a small amount of fruits and veggies every night if you wish. They aren't fattening. Just remember to only try one new food at a time to make sure she doesn't have a reaction to it. :)

Fruits and veggies are perfectly healthy. Just make sure to check Nancy's site for fruits and veggies a hedgehog shouldn't have. I always have to check it before I feed her something new.

And if you're at a loss for what to try on Snowball, give her tiny pieces of apple. Hemi is notoriously picky, but she LOVES apples. It was funny the first few times though, because the crunching it made scared her.
