Is there such a thing as too much fiber? I have been giving my hedgies generic grapenuts (yuck) about every other day but I was curious if I provided it on an all the time basis would they over it eat?

What is your main staple? I don't think you could overdo a hedgie's fiber intake with adding grapenuts to the kibble. I use it too, and half of it falls to the bottom and my hogs happily crunch around those bottom pieces :)

Right now their mix is Chicken Soup Cat Food Light, PMI Exclusive Cat Food Light & Purina Cat Food Light. On the nights that i add the grapenuts it looks like it is all gone in the morning but I dont ever give them a whole lot.

I think as long as they're getting enough protein and fat and such, it shouldn't be a problem. I'm no expert, but I know that humans don't actually digest fiber. It just passes through and helps to "clean out the works." I think as long as you're not feeding exclusively fiber, it should be fine.

I would monitor their bowel movements. When I switched my hedgehog to a higher fibre food, she got diarrhea. I guess it depends on the hedgehog. If they don't get diarrhea or extra-soft bowel movements, I would think that means they're tolerating it all right.

I gusse if I am going by their bowels everything must be okay. When I first got them they had huge stinky soft poos for about a week but now their poos are small & well formed almost like a rats.
