Playing solitar on them is fun but it kills the battery....and the stupid clicky wheel makes it harder......Get a wall charger....it takes like 2 seconds to charge while the computer takes 100000000000000000000000 years.....
and as for yuor original question I don't know what half those words mean so I can't help ya there. :)

You're getting the video ipod right? What you could do is check out the apple site (www.apple.com) and look at the specs. I did a quick search for you and came up with this:

iPod lets you view photos and watch MPEG-4 and H.264 video wherever you go.

I'm not sure about .avi format though.

Yes, H.264 is a video format just like mpeg's or avi's. I think you need the codec though, not sure. But the iPod only plays MP4s or H.264. I just use Videora to convert my videos to MP4, so it's all good.

I know this is going to sound REALLY stupid.. but are iPods ONLY compatible with iTunes or can you input music from other things, like windows media player and napster?

I THINK but not positive that you can't use programs like Napster to upload music onto your ipod. (BTW- it doesn't sound stupid, i'm sure plenty of people wonder this too) - if you are already using itunes you might as well keep using it because it can be a P.I.T.A. and may delete all of your songs if you try to do something different, lol. I do not think that you can use WMP or Napster, but think you could probably just use windows to drop files onto it from your HD. If you use itunes you can just 'add file to library' to make it easier.. I download the MP3s then add to library so it all stays the same form like title/artist, etc.

I'm pretty sure you can only use iTunes to update your iPod. I don't see why you would want to use other programs to do that though. iTunes and iPod go hand in hand together. It's extremely easy to use that program to configure stuff on your iPod.
