it all depends on the hedige. I got a baby one, he's 10 weeks old now, and still sleeps A LOT. I try to wake him up between 9-11pm but he'll only stay up for 10 minutes max, and then he'll go back to sleep. I hear him get up sporadically in the middle of the night. Sometimes i wake up to him wheeling or crunching on his food.
When they get older, people say that they sleep less and will stay up for hours at a time int he night 11pm - 5am, etc. But they are usually up when it's dark. I don't know of too many people who have hedgies that are up when it's light outside.

It depends really. Babies need alot of sleep, so chances are, they'll play for ten minutes, wake up to poop, and then go back to sleep. When my Hemi was a baby, our bonding time consisted of her sleeping on my lap while I watched TV, or worked on the computer.
Now that she's older, she's awake for a little while during the day - usually half an hour before I go to school and then half an hour when I get home at five. I then wake her up at 9pm for cuddle and playtime. When she goes back into her cage at around 11pm, she dozes in her bag for about half an hour, and then comes out to do the normal hedgehog stuff. Eating, pooping, wheeling...the usual. She does that until around 5 or 6am.

My 10 week old baby goes to sleep in the morning at about 6 when I get up. I wake him up between 6 and 9 and have never actually seen him wake up on his own.

Mine gets up roughly around 9-10. I here him on the wheel sometimes at 7am. They get up once in awjile during the day to eat or drik too then back to sleep. Though I never see mine during the day, just see the mess he makes.

If we let him, our hedgie would sleep until the wee hours of the morning and we would never get to see him (he's also extremely shy, so he wouldn't dare come out when someone is around even if he's awake). That's why we wake him up between 7:30 and 8 p.m. every night.
After being woken, he gets a treat, drinks water, and rests on someone's chest yawning & stretching for a while until he's fully awake. He usually starts "playing" around 9 or 9:30. Once he's up, he is quite playful, fearless, and downright irresistible. He goes back to his cage around 10:30. He crawls back into his bag to rest before he naturally wakes up around 1 a.m. and does his "hedgehog stuff" until 5 a.m.-ish.
We hardly ever see him during the day, but, once in a blue moon, he wakes up in late afternoon for a quick bite.
thanks every one! so it doesnt really matter if i wake her up a little in the evening? because i'm probally getting her on easter weekend and all my family will want to see her!

You can certainly wake her up in the evening but if you get her Easter weekend, I would not let everyone handle her. She will be stressed enough going to a new home and it's best to avoid more stress her first few days.

Second what Nancy said.
When I got Hemi, Mom was adament that I was the only one to hold her, and feed her for the first month or so, so she would bond to me. After that month passed, and she was calmed down, other people started holding her and petting her to help socialize her. It worked like a charm and now anyone can hold her without her hissing or raising quills. I even take her to senior centers to visit with the elderly who live there.
So, you may want to try that. You can bring her out to show everyone, but don't pass her around. If she has a hedgebag, bring her out in that. People can peek in, but she'll feel secure and won't stress out as much as if you just held her in plain view.
