You know how dogs will clue in if their people are sick or distressed... has anyone noticed that hedgehogs do this too? Or is Hemi just special?
I ask because last night, I was pretty ill. I had horrible flu-like symptoms and spent alot of the night pacing, and sitting on my bedroom floor to cool down. Instead of wheeling, Hemi spent the entire night up with me, with her front paws propped up on her food bowl so she could look out her cage door at me. Every so often, she'd chirp or squeak at me and then continue watching and sniffing.
When I moved from my spot on the floor to the bathroom, she went to the side of her cage closest to my door and waiting. When I came back and laid down in bed, she moved to the opposite side of her cage that was about a foot from my bed, and watched out her cage at me. This morning, she was still watching me.
When I picked her up to say "good morning", she sniffed my cheek, kind of licked it (she does that sometimes), and chirped at me again. When I put her down, she went right to her bag, and went to sleep.
I just thought it was strange...has anyone else noticed this with a hedgehog they're really bonded to?
