Hi all. I just joined this group, as I just became a chin mommy about a week ago. I have two sweet standard boys. I live in Iowa, but want to move to Kansas City in the near future for a while. Currently, I work in a pet store, but I'm possibly looking for other work, so I can breed and sell some of my critters. (can't compete with the company while I work there). I've got a trio of cool leopard geckos that will hopefully lay some eggs for me this summer, and I breed applesnails. Ultimately I want to have my own pet store that caters to those owned by exotic animals. I want to focus mostly on supplies and services (exotic animal boarding and such), but I do want to sell some animals. I want all the animals I sell to be bred by me, so I can't go too crazy on that front or I'd have no time to socialize etc. the animals I'm raising. I want to breed chins, hedgies (I plan to get one in the near future), lizards(leopard geckos, maybe bearded dragons, maybe anoles and/or chamelions), snails, some fish. I might also breed fancy rats (dumbos or rex), and possibly guinea pigs. I also want to do animal themed birthday parties. I hope to have few enough of each animal I breed, that there is a waiting list for people who want an anmal from me. That way, I can be VERY picky about who gets an animal from me. I also will take back any animal that I've ever sold at any time in that animals life (no refund if it's been a long time of course), and provide it a forever home with me, or adopt it out to a loving home. If the adopter buys a complete animal set up from me, they can adopt the animal for free. If they prove they already have a great set-up, they can adopt the animal for a nominal fee. Oh, and I also want to set up aquariums and terrariums/paladariums for people too. I know it sounds like a lot of things, but I guess I"ll probably stick with the stuff that allows me to make enough money to live off of and pay the bills, and get rid of the ideas that don't sell well, or aren't cost effective. I figure it will take a while before I can really start this venture (though I'll probably start slow with just breeding a few animals and selling them before I venture into a full blown store), but I do hope to have this business up and running by the time I'm 35, which is five years from now.
Not sure what else to say to introduce myself, So I'll sign off for now.
