I've got a 2 month old baby chin (will be 3 months on April 6th) She is just starting to come to my hands when I put them in there....Thing is, She seems to not like being touched behind the ears or on her belly..now I thought chins loved being petted behind the ears and on their belly, so it's weird to me. Does anyone think she will grow out of this? and that maybe it's just because she's in a new place away from her mother or what???

"Some" chins like to get ear scritches, others don't. I can't think of any chins that like to have their belly touched though. I know mine sure don't! :)

She's also pretty young and probably still a bit skittish if you just brought her home. She may come to enjoy ear scritches, but as I said, not all chins do.

The Princess is just about 10 months old...she hates to be scratched on the chin or chest. She does like to be pet like a dog when you are holding her...using an open flat hand going from the top of her head to her tail.

Chinchillas aren't cuddly animals, period. I think it's uncommon to have a chinchilla who loves to be scratched behind the ears or on the stomach, imo. Mickey does, actually, love to be scratched on his forehead, but that's it. Anywhere else is off limits. Sadie is too hyper of a chinchilla to actually sit long enough for me to pet her. Yours may one day like it, but she is still very young and probably doesn't have a bond built up with you yet.

Lindsay-My chin is 3 months old and the only way I can pet him is between bounces off the wall  . Just kidding. I have noticed that if I let him have a long active playtime [about an hour] that he will start to get sleepy and then he will sit on my chest and let me scratch his ears. That's about the closest you will get to 'cuddle' time.

My chin hardly sits stills when she has her free play time but when I am holding her or when she is in her cage she absolutely loves to be stroked behind her ears and right under her chin. she also likes to be rubbed on the belly!

Midget LOVES to be scratched behind the ears and on the forehead...Maya? Won't let you touch it! Midget will sit there and she actually lifts her leg up off the ground like a dog would because she loves it so much, and Maya will go running! I dont know that either of them enjoy their bellies...Midget is just mostly her ears lol.....She MAY come to like it, but dont force her. just try to love her :)

Some of my chinnies like being scratched under the chin and along their jaw line. Only a couple like being scratched behind the ears. They all have different personallities, and like different things, just like people.
