I'm adopting 2 baby girls mid-April, they're sisters (born 2/22)
I was thinking of purchasing a carrier to bring them home

which would be better? medium or large?
Med: 13.5" l x 9" w x 8.5" high.
Large: 15 1/2" long x 11" wide x 10" high.
Should I bring them home together or seperate?

Personally I wouldn't buy that type of carrier at all, especially for chins.
I like something more sturdy, more absorbant and easy to clean. ;) I have two different kinds: one is from JPChinchillas and is metal with a latch door, with separate compartments for each chin(can go up to 8 I think?). The other ones I also got from a pet-store but they have a metal latch door and a sturdy shell.
Just my opinion though. If they've been introduced I don't see the problem with putting them in the same carrier.

I didn't think of those things, I had been recommended this carrier by a friend and didn't think about it much more then that.
I do have 2 carriers similiar to this (http://www.petsmart.com/media/ps/images/products/detail/large/July04/lg_50635_399fd.jpg) for my cat & dog, would they work out better? (both heavy plastic) or do you think metal is my best bet (I don't want them getting sick by eating something)

I've found those super pet carriers to be ok for short distances only. Chins can chew their way out, and if you end up with chins that are anything like mine, they could probably figure out how to unzip the carrier... I do recommend you buy the metal carriers from JPChinchillas. They are very good quality and around the same price as the super pet carriers ($20 for a 2 hole carrier).

Hmm... With the cat/dog carriers, I would worry about them eating plastic. Also, it looks like the babies could fit right through the wire front! Baby chins can get through very very small spaces.

i do not recomend those carriers either. in addition to chewing concerns they are also not as well ventilated as the cat carriers. cat carriers are good (people do use them to ship chin on air lines and they are fine). if you can find the type that has the metal grid both on the front door AND on an opening on the top, those are best.
if they are being weaned together you can bring them home in the same carrier.
good luck and enjoy your chins.

Yup I have two of them because my chins were shipped in them. They can't get to the plastic because there are no edges for them to chew on the inside. I have the small ones I believe and 3 can fit in there comfortably. I am more pleased with my JP carrier though and so plan to get more of those soon and replace the other ones. Good luck with your babies! :hearts:

I brought my girls home in this carrier (http://www.naturecoastchinchillas.com/images/marchiorocarrier2.gif) (or the next size up maybe - the Binnie 2 I think it was called) and it worked really well. I put a little wooden house in there and some hay but they were too busy looking at us to do anything else! The cat carrier looks good too - I liked this type because it has a grate on the floor to let *waste* fall through :)

Thanks for all the responses!
I'm definitely going to check out JPChinchillas ... the dog carrier we have was the one our puppy was shipped in (she was 2 lbs at the time) and the holes in the front are considerably smaller then that one shown above, and the cat carrier we have is ventilated on the top and front with metal bars, but I still don't think I'll risk the plastic. (or them escaping)
Thanks for the advice, I'm so excited to bring them home!!
