I am going to be flying home from college for the summer and need to take him home with me. Anyone know which airlines will allow me to take him on as a carry on? I don't want to put him under the plane cuz i've heard bad things about that. anyone's input who has had prior experience would be greatly appreciated.

http://www.users.nac.net/hedgehogwelfare/newsletters/newsletter_10.pdf -- page 9 has a good article.I suppose gam29 is thinking of taking his/her hedgie in the cabin, so this maybe irrelevant but the following thread regarding flying a hedgie (or any pet) in cargo is very informative.

The article in the Hedgehog Welfare Society's newsletter is excellent. It's particularly useful to know which airlines allow hedgehogs in the passenger cabin and how much it will cost. I also picked up a few very good tips on travelling with a hedgie by car on Page 8. Thanks for drawing my attention to the article, hularious! :)

You're welcome! it's amazing what google can do! There are actually 20 newsletters on that site and i'm sure they're filled with some really useful information...

As for the pdf, page 9 is where it starts, but there's some good information on page 10 that goes over different airline regulations, however i'm not sure how updated it is because i've read some posts that they were able to take their hedgie on Alaska Airlines, but that table says it's not allowed...who knows really?

on another note, perhaps we can compile all the travel information into one post and stick it in the FAQ? just a thought...

Yes, I noticed the HWS newsletter back issues and downloaded them all for my spare time reading. I'm sure they're a wealth of great information. Thanks again!
