I asked this on another site, but I can't seem to get that site to open, and I'd like to know.
Anyway, I have 4 babies coming soon. They have their quills, some teeth (found that out tonight!), hair, ears and eyes are open, they are even toddling around. I asked the owner to weigh them for me, as I thought they were so little. The two largest are 48 grams, and the other two are 44-46 grams. Is this normal??? Or are they small for their age. Oh, they will be 1 month old on the 10th of this month.
Thanks.

There is no set weight for hedgehogs in general. Because they range so widely in sizes as adults sometimes it's hard to tell if a baby is 'normal' weight or not. You should focus more on body conformation and make sure they look healthy overall for their weight. As in are they small framed and small weight?

Wow, a month old is young. Are these babies fully weaned?
I could have sworn more breeders don't wean till at least 6 weeks. If I was you, I'd ask if the breeder would maybe leave the babies with mom for an extra two weeks. Give them a chance to get a bit bigger, and gain a bit more weight.
I'd be concerned about them only having some teeth... they may have difficulty crunching kibble, so you may want to moisten it a bit, at least for a couple weeks until all their teeth grow in.

Oh sorry, yes they are only a month old, but they aren't coming home to me until they are over 6 weeks probably. Sorry, I misworded that.
They have tons of teeth, full hair, nice quills, so I guess their just small. I can hold all 4 in 2 hands. And I've been looking at pics of babies close to their age, and "normal" babies (My terms cause I think mine are tiny), can only be held one at a time in someones hands.
So...guess I got tiny babies comin?

I can hold at least 2 of my 4 week olds in one of my hands. I also had monster babies a while back that were huge, they are just small babies :)
