If your mom is comfortable handling her then by all means I think she should. It is also best that she be handled daily to keep her friendly. Also daily handling ensures that she is warm enough and well. :)

I agree you should handle the little sweety. However depending on how old she is it could stress her out like our little one. When we found out we were doing this we only took him out once to clean his cage and feed him and very softly talk to him. We were told only about 30 min a day. So this might be great for your mom, also she might fall madly in love with your little hedgie and you might loose all parental rights...

DID YOU THINK ABOUT THAT!!!!! I DIDN'T..

I agree with Nancy. I will be out of town for a couple weeks in the summer too, and I'm not sure if I can really trust my dad to take care of Monty. Food/cleaning will not be a problem, it's the handling that really means the most. I will sure try and see if he will be able to hold him every now-and-then, otherwise, I have to superbond with Monty before I leave, so when I come back, he'll be happy to see me...oh the stress!
