Does anyone else know of any other free, online photo resizing sites other than photobucket? I can resize pics, but because I have a mac, I have to resize them down to near microscopic, as well as the fact that you can't click on them to make them bigger. I would use photobucket, but I do not want to give out the information that they ask for ( age, address, yadda yadda ) and I would like to find another place where I can resize pictures to be big and clear like in this (http://www.chins-n-quills.com/forums/showthread.php?t=93988) thread. Any ideas????

Do you have Paint? It resizes pics.
Just go to Image, Stretch/Skew and put in like 45%

Your picture editing program, be it mac or pc, should have a function to change dpi (dots per inch) setting - digital cameras typically take pictures at 300+dpi, and 72 is fairly standard internet picture resolution (any higher and most monitors can't make out the difference anyway.)

Which OS are you running, 9 or X?
I don't know about 9 (having skipped from 8 to X), but I believe iPhoto for OSX can do the resizing you want. I'll play with it when I get home and let you know (I'm at work right now). If not, I have a few shareware programs that should be able to do phot resizing.
Rowena--> Paint is a Windoze program, it doesn't run on Macs.

There are good reasons for why most professional graphic designers use Macs: The Mac offers better performance & functionality for professional graphics manipulation.
What you have to do is to change the image resolution, not just dimensions. On your computer screen, images are displayed at 72 dpi. Anything greater than that is a waste for your purpose. Compress your image to low resolution and then change the dimensions.
If you use Photoshop, reducing resolution and cropping is a snap. It even has the "Optimize for Web" command. If you don't use Photoshop, you can use "Preview", a Mac OSX bundled application instead. Just use the command "Save as..." under the "File" menu. Choose "JPEG" as your preferred format, set the Quality to a low setting, then crop to your desired size.
You can also check the VersionTracker site below for shareware and freeware for cheap/free applications which let you manipulate images.
http://www.versiontracker.com/macosx/
For instance, PhotoTool CM2.0, Kropper-free 1.3, photo Drop 1.01 are all freeware and let you resize images.
Even if you don't use OSX and Preview, the site lists freeware/shareware for OS9, so you should be able to find something you can use. Good luck!

Free and VERY VERY easy to use...
Open picture just by hitting the O key, then CTRL R and it will bring up a screen to resize...type in 400... that is a good size then ok then hit the S key to save...As simple as that!!!

Okay, I got a photobucket account and have loaded some pictures on it. How do I use the insert image button on the reply bar? I know I could hyperlink it, but I would like to know how to insert an image. Any advice? thanks!

I don't know anything about that image button. You have to scroll down and use the "manage attachments" link. Then upload it from there.
