The last hoglet from Emma's litter left last Friday. Yay, I figured I would get a break for a little while...nope! :p

Pepper saw today as a good day to give birth to her first litter. Pepper's mom had small litters and Pepper was only hoglet in her litter.I figured the same would be true for Pepper....nope! When I first discovered the hoglets today at around noon there were five!

Anyone want to guess how many of each gender there are going to be?
You can try to guess the colors too... might get some unique patterns and color combinations. Mom is a brown-white and dad is a cinnacot pinto.

Person with the closest guess gets pick of the litter! No, no I don't think I can do that...

Here is one picture of mom and two of dad.

Big Problems.

Pepper has decided "no babies" for her right now. Only two are left. I kow for a fact that if I pull those two they WILL NOT make it! How many handfed babies actually survive?! I do have one hedgehog Emma who is the most maternal thing in the world. If I tried to introduce the two babies with her scent is there any chance that she would take them in?

I do not think those two babies will survive with Pepper.
What would you recomend I do?

If Emma just weaned her's it may not work but I guess if there is no other alternative it's worth a try. Is there anyone near you that has new babies that could foster them?

Both of the babies are cold but not dead. It appears mom has not been keeping them warm enough. I have them on a heat pack on "low" and I am trying to figure out a way to introduce them to Emma.
Should I use vanilla extract, a drop on Emma's nose and a tiny bit on each of the babies, or should I rub a spoon around Emma's living area and then onto the babies?
