Food - Natural Balance

Yay! I might get my hedgehog this weekend! Well, if I do or don't I am getting everything ready.

Food has been a problem because I cannot find any recommended foods near me. Most are made of mostly fillers.

The best we have found is Natural Balance. I have the first five ingredients here:

Venison
Whole Dried Green Peas
Venison Meal
Canola Oil
Venison Liver

It has 32% protein, 12% Fat, and 4.5% fibre. I know this is not enough fibre and a touch too much fat, is there anything I can add to get more fibre? And is the fat count alright?


So, can I put this in my hedgehog feed mix?

I think the peas are okay, because they are mentioned as a treat a few posts down.

I give NB to my guys- only the Reduced Calorie version. You have the venison and green pea which is normally for animals with allergies or stomache problems- but it shouldnt be an issue.

I had a cat with a food allergy that was on the Venison and Green Pea formula. I had 2 hedgies that loved it and the remaining ones snubbed it. I will sprinkle grape nuts on their kibble every other day for added fiber. Some will eat it willingly and others will watch it sift to the bottom of their bowls.
Are you able to find Royal Canin? The Slim 37 or 38 formula is a good one to.

I use the venison and green pea in my mix as well, and Gimli really likes it. I also mix the natural balance reduced calorie, wellness lite, and Royal Canin lite.

Since you're Canadian, try finding Go! Natural cat & dog food. I feed mine that and they're pretty good by way of fat, etc. I can't think of the website offhand but if you want to know where you can find it, try Googling "Go! Natural pet food"

I can find Go! Natural cat & dog food at the smae place as Natural Balance. So I'll think abou that too.
