It depends on the hedgie. I read somewhere that someone's hedgie did eat a lot of it and died. :( If you're switching litters, but sure to introduce it with poops in it so the hedige understands it's not food or for play.

When I first changed bedding to carefresh Mr. Prickles tried to eat it, but when he found out it did not taste good he spit it out. so you might as well try it and see what they do. And you can try different things before you choos the one you like.

That is what I use for Daisy's bedding. I have also read that some hedgies will try to eat it. Daisy never has, and she does seem to love it as she LOVES to burrow in it. It can be messy since it sticks to her fleece blankets and hedgie bags, but on the bright side, her pen is a little more decorative, because I always add a little colored care fresh for pizzaz. She just must have a fancy pen!

Carefresh can cause impactions and death if ingested. Of course you don't know if that first taste test is going to cause the problem.

I also found it to be very dusty. I personally don't like it and won't use it but many people use it no problem. :)

I used to use Carefresh on Pringle and he never had a problem with it, but Scoops immediately tried to eat it so I switched to liners. I think they are wonderful and so much easier to clean, not to mention so cute. Check out Nancy's Hedgie Den link if you decide to try them out.
