Hi All!!!
Kinda new here from Michigan also... I just got my Chin Kaylee Jo about a year ago as a present. But that was not the first time I had a chin. 6 months prior I kind of rescued a chin from a friend of mine when I seen how she was treating hers. She didn't EVER feed hers hay, didn't give him toys to chew...or anything. I took him home and he died within a week. I was heart broken because I tried everything to bring back to where he should be. Long story... sorry. But I recieved kaylee 6 months after and she is doing great ( because she has a mommy that loves her) However I have a few questions... bear with me. She was bought at Petco and she was extremely hiper!!! After a year she is just now allowing me to pet her head (Just her head mind you) she even lets me scratch behind her ears and under her chin. However, she just doesn't like to come out of her cage yet and I just don't know what to do. I feel bad because she just refuses to come out. I have a wheel for her to exercise with and she does all the time but I would like to train her to be used to people better. Any suggestions???

Thanks in advance,
Jenni From Michigan :hearts:

Welcome!! I haven't had my chins for as long as you have but I posted a similar situation in this thread (http://www.chins-n-quills.com/forums/showthread.php?t=94331) . Maybe some of these ideas would work for you :) . I wish you luck!!!

Hello and :welcome10: to CnQ!!!! sorry about the little guy, n as for Kaylee I don't want to sound mean but I would make her get out and show her that everything is allright when she comes out of her cage and that she can run around. :) Keep us updated  We also LOVE pics! ;)

Some chinnies take longer to bond with than others. I don't think anything is wrong with her, unless there's been a huge change in behavior suddenly. I'm sure she'll warm up to you even more as time goes by. There's nothing you can really do to speed it up other than letting her come to you.

Welcome, by the way! I'm from Michigan, too. :)

Hi Jenni,
Welcome to Chins & Quills... Sorry about the first little guy. Congrats on Kaylee Jo.. You could try just leaving the door open on her cage and watch to see if she will come out that way.. You could try putting a dust bath outside her cage to see if she will come out.
You will learn alot here. As this is the place to be with chins.
