dip his bleeding nail in some cornstarch. It'll help clog the bleed...

there are some other sites that give some other options...but cornstarch is the most frequented item (not flour)

(there are some quick stopping bleed products out there, but i forget the name, a google search might help.)

if it continues, yes, take him to the vet.

I was told to use a styptic pencil.

I got one just in case we trim our hedgie's toe nails too short or something, but we haven't actually used it yet, so I'm not sure how well it will work for your hedgie, but I beleive that's what experienced hedgie owners recommend to stop minor bleeding.

Good luck!

There's something I've heard of called QuikStop. Never seen it; I just use cornstarch when mine are torn/ cut too short. Hope I helped.

Steptic and QuikStop are the same thing and they burn. Personally I'd never use either one on an animal.

I find dipping their foot in cornstarch works best. If they happen to lick it, it won't hurt them.

I just use flour. I keep a little container of it in the hedgie room just in case. :)

It's pretty likely you'll accidently clip their quick at least once. Since I'm so paranoid, I put cornstarch on Hemi's paw even if it doesn't bleed that much.

If they burn then why do vets use them instead of cornstarch?? Just curious....
