Hey guys, as some of you know, I may be adopting another hedgehog within the next week, and I have one question that just occured to me: When quarantining the new girl for a month, is it okay to have them in the same room, but different cages? I'm only asking because my room is the warmest in the house and remains at a constant 25 degree Celsius + temperature. The rest of the house is frequently sitting around 15 degrees, which is much too cold.

Any help would be great. :)

I wouldn't keep them in the same room. Usually I do opposite ends of the house. Because you don't know what is wrong with Hemi's leg there is the possibility that her immune system could be lower than normal and you wouldn't want her exposed.

Our latest little girl came from 30 minutes away and she developed a URI. She started sneezing a week later. Sometimes just the stress of going to a new home can give them a URI. :)

Alright.. If I get this little girl, I'll have to buy a space heater and keep her in our other computer room. It's not at the other end of the house, but it's safe from a curious puppy... there's actually a door on it. I know my parents wouldn't let me keep her in the living room, and downstairs is out of the question. :)

Ya, what she said! :p

Always quarentiene in a different room, preferably with at least 1 room in between. wash your hands between interacting with the hedgehogs and do not let them touch any of the same stuff (like your bed). It's better to be too safe then....... well, you know the rest.

LOL, sounds good. It's not even definate I'm getting this other hedgehog, but I figure it's better to ask before, rather than be scrambling last minute. The room I plan to quarantine her in is across a hallway and one room up. They won't be playing in the same vicinity, nor will people touch one without washing their hands after touching the other. lol.

If there were more suitable rooms in the house, she'd be even further from Hemi... but I'm sort of really limited. :)
