I have been in the mood for some Halibut lately. Anyone have any good recipes they use at home for this? Thanks!

I love Halibut!!!!! YUMMY! My parents always deep fry theirs on special occasions. That's the only way I learned.

1 cup flour, seasoned with salt and pepper on a paper plate
1 egg, beaten with water in a second bow.
1 cup panko on another paper plate

Roll the fish fillets in the flour. Then dip them in egg, then roll them in the Panko.

Put 1/4" of oil in a skillet on medium high heat. When hot put the fish in
Fry on each side til golden.

*dies from delicious*

That's the same way my parents make them too except they roll it in bread crumbs instead of Panko(not sure what that is). It's so good. :slurp:

Panko is Japanese breadcrumbs. They are much bigger and more delicate than ordinary breadcrumbs and make a delightfully crispy crust.

Do they sell Panko at the regular grocery store?

They do here. It comes in a plastic bag about the size of a bag of rice and it's 1.89. There is some "Sushi Chef" brand in a box that is over 3.00 but they don't taste any better.

I get them in the "International" or Ethnic Foods" aisle.

I had beer battered Halibut the other day; it was ecstacy. The ultimate fish and chips!

I think it's good sauted in a pan with a little butter. We have it with steamed carrots and green beans or yellow rice. Yummy!
