Geoffrey is a runner. He LOVES to climb all over us humans, but he can't tolerate us picking him up or holding him. He splats himself on us every night and follows us around (we have to be very careful not to step on him); he even rubs his nose with ours and gives us kisses when he's particularly feeling affectionate towards us, so it's not that he is afraid of us or he doesn't trust us. He just can't stand being held. He is just a born-free kind of a guy who isn't into cuddling (after all that's chick stuff, right?). We just can't hold him any longer than several seconds. After that, he wiggles and squirms like crazy and frees himself from our hands.

Last night, for some unknown reason, when I scooped him up, he didn't squirm. He just stayed still in my hands very quietly. So I decided to hold him close to my heart. To my surprise, he stayed still in my hands for almost 15 minutes! It was SO sweet and So awesome... melted my heart... almost made me cry... :cry2:

If you have a cuddly hedgie, it's nothing, I know, but for us -- me -- this was HUGE! We don't expect him to behave like that often if ever again, but boy, it was surly amazing. I envy people who experience such warm feelings everyday by being able to hold his/her hedgie...

Well, it was such an unusual even, and I just couldn't keep it to myself. I'm glad that this forum is here for us for these occasions. :hearts:

Aww, that is great. Isn't it special when they snuggle into you. Although we have lots of cuddlers we also have many who are like Geoffrey that don't want to stay still for any reason. A moment of cuddling with them is priceless.

I hope Geoffrey continues to like his snuggle time. :)

That is so sweet! I totally know what you mean. I have a "squirmer" boy too and it's the cutest thing when he actually is calm when I hold him. Sometimes I have to ask him, "are you ok??" Then he goes back to squirm-mode. But those few moments of cuddle time are priceless! :lovies:

I totally know what you mean. Yes, I thought you of all people would understand what I'm talking about. From what I read in the past, I think Razzle and Geoffrey share a lot in common, including their infamous "talk-to-my-quills" pose.

Sometimes I have to ask him, "are you ok??"That was exactly how I first reacted last night. "Oh, my god, are you sick? You're not squirming!" Then I realized what was going on and though, "Awww..." Definitely those moments of cuddle time with our squirm boys are priceless, which even a MasterCard can't buy.

Can't believe it; Geoffrey cuddled again!!!

I'm not sure if he found cuddling wasn't too bad after all, or what??? But last night he snuggled into my hands and cuddled for a good 20 minutes. And then, he fell asleep in my hands and slept for 30 minutes!!!

While I couldn't believe it was our squirming boy, but it truly was a priceless and very emotional moment for me... :itslove:

Isn't it great! Cuddlebuggs are the best. I hope he stays like that. It is so relaxing laying on the couch with a little hedgie cuddled up sleeping all nice and warm. Congrats!

Alas, Geoffrey reverted to his regular squirm-boy mode last night. He huffed when we tried to pick him up telling us to "back off!" *sign*... However, now we know he is capable of cuddling, so there's still hope. We'll keep working on him to become a cuddle-bug. ;)
