Mikey is still challenging us with his biting behavior. But he has started doing something now that I don't know if I should laugh about or just shake my head in frustration!

He bites all the time. From the moment I pick him up, he'll start to bite. For the most part, I will hold him in one of his blankies, but at times I will hold him in my hands. I wash with Dove unscented soap each time before I hold him. He will draw blood. I do not put him down to reward the behavior. Instead, I say "No!" and blow in his face. That will cause him to tuck his head down and start to shake.

Well, tonight I started out by holding him in his bag, then moved him to his blankie on my lap and when he calmed down I decided to pick him up in my hands. Of course, he started to bite right away, but this time he bit quick and then tucked his head down and started to shake before I even had a chance to say "No!" and blow on his face!

So what do you think? Am I making progress on the biting or is this a battle of wills? Do I have a stubborn hedgie? He seems to have learned what happens when he bites me, but he doesn't want to give up the biting.

I can't blow in his face if he's already tucking it down...

The logical thing to do would be to keep all flesh away from him, but sometimes, that's not so easy. Keep saying No and blowing even if he's already tucked. Just reinforce that you don't enjoy what he does. He'll catch on eventually.

Hand sanitizer like Purell? The stuff you use without water, right?
