My boyfriend and I were looking up hedgie websites tonight and ran across an interesting website. It pretty much argues the fact that hedgehogs should not be domesticated and should not be kept as pets. Pretty sad check it out.....

LOL- isn't that interesting-- but I think the site may be a joke:dunno:-- because apparently their pictures are of a pet hedgehog!--
and he/she sure is a cutie! ;) I just love the first picture!

Strange.. they say hedgehogs are grumpy the 10% of the day they're awake. I could disagree with that. Hemi is a ball of sunshine 90% of the time. And they aren't good for cuddling? I beg to differ. Hemi loves to cuddle, and she's nice and soft. Her quills don't bother me.
But if they want to argue that hedgehogs shouldn't be domesticated because of physical features, fine. Dogs shouldn't be domesticated. They have large teeth made for ripping meat apart. Cats shouldn't be domesticated because they have claws that they use when scared. Any animal has a natural defense mechanism... does that mean no one should have pets?

LOL. I laugh because their picture of a poor, startled hedgie is one of a very calm one eating food from a dish right in front of a cat... LOL. I hope it's a joke because otherwise... wow, they can't read body language.

Joke is on them- all the pictures they show are of a species that is already domesticated hehe.

"Regurgitate"!? Hedgies merely "foam up saliva", right? I found it interesting that some people, including my husband who loves our hedgie to bits, think self-anointing disgusting. I think it's very cute and entertaining. But I agree, I probably would consider it disgusting if they were "regurgitating all over themselves".
