After months of reasearch and preperation we finally got our chins the other day from Dawn's House of Chins. She was really helpful through out the entire process, and helped answer a bunch of our questions and concerns.

We have a beige and a standard female. Sierra the beige is 4 months old and Jade the standard is 2 months old.

They had about a 4 hour trip to come home but they slept the entire way. Right now they are sleeping on eachother in the wood house we have for them. Out of curiosity do chinchillas sleep with there eyes open? Or are they just resting when they do that?

Heres a few pictures of them. :)

Oh yeah the cage isn't quite done yet just have to install the ledges and wheel, but it will be done next weekend. Then they will be extra spoiled.

Congratulations!! Cute chins, love the names! I think my girls sleep with their eyes open sometimes...you can get really close to them and it looks like they are looking right at you but then they get startled as if they just woke up!! Too funny! Have fun getting to know your chins!!

cute chins, and congrats, I do not think they ever sleep with eyes open. Mine will usually pass out in some weird position. I have even seen them on their back or with their head dangleing from the shelf. funny little things.

Adorable chinnies! I have yet to see a chin sleep with its eyes open, so I don't think chins do. But who knows? Some chins can be really weird sometimes! :p

Thanks everyone =) We are having so much fun with them. They seem very scared though. They will be running around, and if someone moves too quickly they jump a mile, even if the person is on the other side of the room. I guess they are very observant. Will they calm down after a while?

Congrats, they are cute! I've had my chins for a couple years now and they'll still jump at sudden movements sometimes or run into their house; just how chins are. They will get used to you and your house though, right now there's just lots of new noises and activity.
