Well, I made the difficult decision and exchanged Mikey because of his biting behavior. The breeder was kind enough to exchange him for another hedgehog. She felt also that he should not be biting the way he was for us and offered to exchange him. Perhaps after she works with him a bit he will be happier or maybe he just didn't "click" with us and he will for someone else.
Anyway, we have brought home Lucy! A beautiful little girl! She is very easy-going. The 4-hour trip home was a breeze. She didn't get sick at all and just fell asleep in the carrier until we got home. When we got home, she went exploring around the house-trying to climb a vacuum cleaner and then pulling a paperback book around the living room! She loves to be held for the short time that we have held her.
She seems to like her cage and we're leaving her alone for her time to adjust. So far, she has eaten 62 pieces of kibble (Spike's Delite)! Rearranged her cage, tried to climb the digging box, and tried to climb the wheel. So, I think we have a climber!
I will post pictures as soon as I can borrow a digital camera and take a few pictures of her.
