Hello form Sanya and Chili in Boston

Hi everyone,
I have one standard grey, 6 month old female chinchilla named Chili. I've had her for about 3 months and its really fun to see her grow up and get more tame. She's really sweet and full of running, bouncing energy. I got her before I started reading this forum, so she came from a pet store. The down side is that I don't know her exact birth day and she is missing some toes on her fore-paws but the upside is that she has a great personality and she's wonderful to have around. I've been reading this forum for a few months now, and have gotten some great advice on food, dust and other general care issues. Thanks! I've decided to join the forum and start posting, because I think my friends are sick of hearing about chinchillas.

I'm curious, where do you get your supplies from (food, dust, chew things)? Anyplace good on the east coast? I currently buy Mazuri pellets and blue cloud dust from Chinworld, but the shipping is sooo expensive; I haven't found a closer source yet.

Hi! I get my Mazuri ordered fresh from a feed store right down the hill from me, I think there is a "Farmer's Exchange" in or near Boston too (Quincy is what I'm thinking) that can probably order it for you ($12.99 or so a bag). Right now I get it in 25# bags (for two chinnies) so it's way more than I can possibly use in the time before it loses its freshness but it's still worth it not to pay shipping and to get FRESH and I have been donating the extra here and there... :) ...I get many supplies from wonderful chinnie owners on this board actually...I think I have bought from all of them :blush:. I have my own personal source (shhh...) for apple wood now because my parents live in VT and have been cutting organic apple trees from their land (w00t) so I have been reaping the benefits for my chins :). But in the past I have bought from....uh...yeah....everyone!! I can't say enough good things about all of them! I also get kiln dried pine shavings at the feed store and I order Carefresh from www.petfooddirect.com when they have coupons for 20% off (which is almost always) and their shipping is very reasonable and the prices are some of the lowest I've seen!! let me know if you're looking for anything specific and I'm happy to give you my opinion :) (can you tell I like shopping??) :winkgrin: .

:welcome8: to chins n quills! Congrats on your chinnie and can't wait to see pics! Those last ones didn't load properly. Go to the bottom of the post and click manage attachments...you'll have to upload them to cnq but they have to be a certain size, it tells you there!
