For the past month and 1/2 my hedgehog Emo squeaks in his sleep. It almost sounds like a whistling sound ( the sound human noses make when they have something in them) Sometimes it gets loud and chirpy but most of the time it is low and in time with his breathing. He is eating normal, drinking, and pooping. He is active on his wheel and there are no physical signs that something is wrong. Is this normal? I ask because he never did this before, it just started happening. Thank you!

My Gwen has done this a few times too it sounds almost like a squeak toy. Actually she was doing this yesterday when i was cuddling her.
As far as I know it is just harmless snoring but here are some other reasons they may squeak
distressed or in pain , sounds like a baby bird, I have only heard newborns do this
in heat and wanting to mate, chirping sound , not sure if they would do it in their sleep but who knows
nightmares or deep sleep? its possible I am sure...
Anyway if it just started realize that it is spring and spring=mating season so maybe he is looking to mate??

Our Lily is a very vocal sleeper with squeals and whimpers, whines and all kinds of little and often loud noises.

As long as everything else is normal, he is no doubt just dreaming. :)

My Kahlua is a very vivid sleeper and snores. She sounds like a little puppy whimpering. Its so cute. I can only wonder what she might be dreaming of.
