forum updates?

Not to be rude, mean, or cruel... I might get banned for this...
But I have been noticing that alot of peoples memberships are getting screwed up, including mine...
They say we need 50 posts and be a member for 30 days to post in certain areas... when I first joined.. I could post in the WANTED ads, now I can't...
I think the owner or a super mod or admin need to go through everyones member status and update everything.. I've been seeing people having trouble getting into this and that...
Take a day and go through everything... schedule a maintenance(sp) day...I'm soon not going to be on here at all, because half the time I can't post anything, or they take it off...I understand you want this to be a "safe" place for chin and hedge people to chat, ask questions, whatever.. but someone needs to fix things.... Like I said.. I'm not trying to come across mean, just suggesting it I guess.

Things here aren't broken. People aren't using them correctly or don't have settings on THEIR computers set correctly and are therefore having problems. We have WAY too many members in order to take the time that it would take to go thru every member as you have suggested to make sure every single little setting is the way it should be, and even then we can't check their computers, they have to do that. THE STAFF HERE ARE VOLUNTEERS!!! We have lives outside of this forum. We are not paid. We do this work because we want to and because we have been asked to. If you don't like it here, I suggest you do as you say you will...and leave.

Now....as for what you had happen to your account. For some weird reason, you were allowed to have access to the classified section by accident, probably because we try to rely on an automated system for promotions and it did indeed fail. Since this promotion failed, we have since revamped that system. Once it was discovered that you had premature access, we took your access away. There was no error or problem with that...it was the staff making sure to enforce the rules on you. Sorry you don't like it. Want ads are Classified ads, we've discussed this before in another thread. Please move on to another topic of discussion.

We fix plenty of things you don't even think about seeing. Who's up when you're sleeping doing the maintenance that you don't appreciate? Who's on here day in, day out, even before you became a member, compiling and fixing threads so that when you do a search for something, you get the information you're looking for and not a bunch of garbage? I think you need to take a long look at what you get for your membership fee....Oh that's right, you don't pay for anything on this site. It's FREE! How about some appreciation for what you get for that, huh?

How long does it take for me to get out of the mederation faze so that I can get answers when I post a thread Im new to the Chinchilla owning and i reasearched for about 2 yrs b 4 I actually bought mine but now that I have them I have ?'s and it takes a while b 4 my thread is actually posted. I do appreciate the help that I have received and I was also curious if you guys take Donations? Thank YOu in advance Jessilyn

Noone here is yelling but YOU! You can dish it, but can't take it. I take my "job" here very seriously and you have taken it upon yourself to tell me I'm not doing a good job, but yet you don't have a realistic idea of what you're talking about. I took it upon MYself to educate you and you get upset too. Hmmm.... seems as though you are the one out of line. I have not been disrespectful here. You are yelling at me, and I haven't even begun to do so. I have been very matter-of-factly with you.

You are still saying that there are problems here, and yet I just explained to you that there are no such thing. There isn't anything being pushed under the rug here either, as you have suggested "trying to get this out in the open."

I NEVER touched my settings.... why can't i get into the chatroom all of a sudden? NO the "admins and mods" touched my settings.. because like you said.. you fixed my status that I cannot post in classifieds, so someone had to of touched my settings elsewhere and now i can't get into the chatroom... but it doesn't matter.. it's MY problem, not yours...

I have no idea why I'm fixing to explain this to you, but maybe you will understand this and that there is not a conspiracy against you or any of the members on this site, as you seem to think. For some reason the automatic promotion system on the site upgraded you to the "registered" usergroup, not the "not yet 50" usergroup when you joined. The "registered" usergroup has "permission" to post classified ads wherever they would like on the forum, whereas the "not yet 50" usergroup doesn't. When it was noticed that you had permissions that you were not supposed to have yet, we, meaning the staff, bumped you back down (by moving the checkmark that was beside of the "registered" usergroup to "not yet 50" usergroup) so that you would have the proper permissions at the rank that you should have been at. Sometimes these things happen....sometimes we catch them, and sometimes we don't. We ARE human afterall.

There are NO differences in the permissions for the chatroom for any of the usergroups, excluding the BANNED usergroups and you are not a member of any of the BANNED usergroups. (I just checked.) As far as the site is concerned, there is NO reason that you shouldn't be able to chat. I suggest that you check your java, pop-ups, delete your cookies, delete temp internet files, delete history and all caches and try again. When you get the window that asks for permission to run java, you must answer YES...if you don't, it won't ever ask you again and it'll never run the chat window. May be the reason you aren't getting in now, who knows? Again, there is no reason as far as this site is concerned that you can't chat.

All of a sudden I can get into the chat, and I didnt even touch nothing.. funny how things happen like that :rolleyes:
