Did anyone else participate in the Hedgehog Welfare Society Wheel-a-Thon that was held in February ? I raised over $100 and was hoping to find out how well the event went. Also, apparently we were supposed to get "prizes" (HWS T-shirt) in March. I haven't heard a thing! The website doesn't have any info and when I contacted them, I got a response saying they would get back soon (I guess the organizer had been ill). But here it is May and still no word. People that contributed money to me have been asking how the fund raiser went, and I can't answer them. They are starting to question how "legitimate" the whole thing is and it's kind of embarrassing! Also, I would like to know how my money is being utlizied to help hedgehogs. Just wondering if anyone else has had the same experience or knows anything?

Hi Debbie,

My name is Donnasue, and I am on the board of the Hedgehog Welfare Society. Thank you so much for bringing your concerns to our attention. Unfortunately, the organizer of the event had some health problems, and it has been tough for even us to track her down. I would like to assure you that we greatly appreciate your participation in the Wheelathon. We raised over $600 this year, which has helped with HWS programs: Vet bills for rescued hedgehogs, care-packages, and a newly established health research fund.

If you would be so kind as to e-mail us privately (tellypinky@yahoo.com AND jenners@mn.rr.com ) we will address all your questions and be sure you receive your particiaption gifts -- promptly!

If anyone else has questions or concerns about the wheelathon, also feel free to ask. I do not frequently check the Chins and Quills board, so privately is probably the best way to get ahold of me.

Thank you again for sharing your concerns with us.

Donnasue

I'm forwarding this for the wheelathon committee. If anyone has questions about the wheelathon, there is contact info here.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Wheelathon is one of our most popular fundraisers. We know that
many of our members look forward to it every year. This year, our
coordinator had some serious health issues which took her attention
away from Wheelathon responsibilities. As a result, the project did
not go as smoothly as we all wanted and errors were made. We want
you to know that we regret this very much and the Board will take
steps in the future to ensure that our fundraisers are coordinated
effectively so we can continue to enjoy the activities in future
years.
We value the participation of each of you, and to the extent that
someone was not recognized appropriately we want to be sure that is
rectified. If you have any concerns about this year's Wheelathon,
or if you believe an error has been made, please contact Jennifer at
jenners @ mn.rr.com (spaces removed) or Donnasue at
donnasue.graesser @ aya.yale.edu (spaces removed).
Thank you for your patience while we address this issue.
