Hi. I joined this BB a few weeks ago when, sadly, my female chin died and I started looking for another. We got a pair about 7 years ago. My son is into animals as much as I am and wanted a ferret. I convinced him to go with Chins instead! ;)

Got a new female a few days ago. Biggest problem is that she chewed holes in the pet carrier I picked her up in! Luckily we caught it before she squeezed out.

In addition to the pair of chins I have a St. Bernard, 7 cats, a flemish giant, and 6 horses, 2 of which are expecting shortly. This is actually down from when there were also several lizards, several snakes, and a pair of egyptian spiney mice!

As for the chins, our pair had several babies over the years. Both of my sister's kids fell in love and got one, one became a class pet as my son's school, one went to a class mate, and one went to a sister's neighbor. They are all thrilled! :bananadance:

:welcome6: What's a flemish giant? Sounds scary,

It's an OMG big bunny! Huge rabbit. It's a wonder my parents never found themselves with a few pairs of them as they were avid rabbit breeders when I was little.

And welcome to CnQ, kawhit!

Hey, thanks for the welcome. I end up spending most of my board time on horse boards (sorry :horse: :dunno: ), mostly because my mares are going to be foaling soon and I lost the foal last year, so I want to make sure there are NO MISTAKES this time!

Anyway, see someone else let you know what a Flemish Giant was. They are huge rabbits, and just like big dogs are more laid back and friendly (in general) than little ones, these rabbits are the same. The first one I had was trained to walk (well, hop really) on a leash. It was such a kick taking her to the park!

My horses (the ones I'm raising) are Shires, which are also huge. They are the big feathered ones, similar to Clydesdales, but rarer.

The introduction of the new chin was great. No fighting, no biting, just wonderful. I couldn't be happier. Glad I found this place that I can look up stuff about chins!

Thanks.
Kathy
