Hi all,
Today I took Ci Wei outside in his new pet carrier from Petco. It is vinyl with one roll-up side to it (of course it's still enclosed). Ci Wei seemed to settle in after a few moments of smelling and being reassured everything was okay, and before I knew it had snuggled up in the front corner in bright sunshine to sleep. He loved it, and it was so cute the way his eyes would slowly close as he fell asleep. At first I was afraid he was wanting to burrow, since he kept scratching and the floor, and that perhaps the sunlight was too bright for him, but when I moved his little blankie next to him he just ignored it. I assume now he just wanted to get comfortable, and he did tuck his head down so the sun wasn't in his eyes (there's a solid vinyl part lower down that he could place his head next to). Later, he must have gotten a little warm, 'cause he finally decided to mosey on back to the shaded area of the carrier, where once again he fell asleep. The funny part, though, was when I went to place him back in his cage inside. I opened the front flap of the carrier, thinking he might be a little anxious to get back to a familiar environment, but instead of coming towards the front, he plopped himself down in the far back, spread-legged, and lowered his visor quills a bit as if to say "Hey, these are my digs, and I'm trying to rest. Do you mind?" He can be a bit grumpy at times, but hey, as one of the other owners here mentioned of their own hedgie, it's all part of his charm.
Anyway, I just wanted to share the story with you all. I'll try to post a pic of him maybe tomorrow during his "leave me alone moment" earlier. I would post it now, but had a slight problem logging into Photobucket, so I need to wait a bit. Anyhoo, enjoy!
