Okay you all are probably going to think Im stupid but you wouldnt be the first lol so do their quills hurt or anything and are thy like soft when theyre babies. Ive always thought hedgehogs were so cool but always wondered that and JW on average ow many babies do they usually have? Thank you so much :)

The quills are definately.. different. Baby quills are sharper than adults because (I'm guessing here) to provide more protection to a vunerable baby. Adult quills tend to be a little less sharp. Putting Vitamin E on them, and washing them with Aveeno body wash seems to help soften up my hedgehog's quills a bit.
I'm not sure about the number of babies to a litter, but I'm thinking between one and four is average, although I've heard of some hedgehogs having more. Larger litters usually have a lower mortality rate than small litters.
And, I'm not sure if breeding has crossed your mind (the baby question prompted this) but please, please, please do LOTS of research before breeding. Own a hedgehog for at least a year before you breed and don't breed petstore hedgehogs. Only breed a hedgehog from a reputable breeder.

You get used to the quills pretty quickly. I think they are pretty sharp, but then again my little girl is still a baby. The only time they can really poke you is when they stick em up, other than that they are kinda like thick hairs...they are pretty weird though, sometimes I just stare at them up close...pretty cool looking.

Thanks now I know...lol...and by the way I wasnt planning on breeding. Chinchillas are more my thing. You know small and furry lol but It would be cool to own one as a pet but no one sells them around here.
