Which One Water Bottle or Water Dish

I voted dish for many reasons.
- Hedgehogs necks do not articulate the way rodents do so drinking from a bottle is an un-natural and uncomfortable position.
- Hedgehogs tend to bite at the spout as the water does not come quick enough. They can crack their teeth on the spout and once broken the teeth do not grow back.
- There have been cases of a hedgehogs long tongue getting caught between the spout and the ball.
- Bottles are much more difficult to clean properly, especially the spout and bacteria can build up.
- many people that once used bottles found that their hedgehogs drink alot more water after switching to bowls.

I prefer water bowls for the same reasons Nancy stated above. No reason to reiterate. I'd rather clean a bowl out daily and refill, then have a more convenient water bottle be uncomfortable for them.

Water dishes. I had a hedgehog that broke his tooth on a water bottle and it scared the bejeezus out of me when he did it. Never again!!!

Geoffrey's previous owner used a bottle and told us that Geoffrey hardly drank any water but it was normal for him, so that we shouldn't worry over it.

Well, we added a water dish almost immediately after we adopted him and found that he drank quite a bit of water each night, contrary to what we were told. I admit the water bottle the previous owner used wasn't very good: old, ill-fitted, and dirty. Maybe that was why Geoffrey never really used it, but he sure loves drinking out of a crock dish now. :)

I used a bottle for a few days and noticed little was consumed, I changed to a bowl and have never looked back since.

Gee, thanks guys.................. :S

You've all gotten me paranoid about the water bottle I bought for Sheridan. I'm worried the drippy-part is too big, that he'll get his tongue caught, that he'll chip his teeth........... So, I'm going to start him with a bowl, and see how messy he is.

Thanks for the paranoia.............. :p

Bowls aren't messy if they're paired with liners as bedding. LOL.
