View Full Version : Calling All Instrumentalists on C&Q
I posted a thread like this a while ago to see how many violinists were out there. Now I wanna know how many people play instruments period. Also add if you play professionally, just for fun or are a student, how long you've been playing and any other details you want( previous teachers, current pieces, accomplishments etc.). Music is so great and its so fun to make it through hard work and persistence. I just wanna see how many others have experienced this.:hyper:
I am a student violinists. I have been playing for seven years and teaching for the last 3 years. I have taught various ages from 2 yearolds up to 30 yearolds. I have studied with Christine Golden, Patricia Tergerson, Rochelle Perrin, Lucille Spinner, Collete Vandenberg and Dylana Jenson. I am currently working on Mozarts 3rd violin concerto in G major. Thats enough about my musical endeavors and history, hope to see others too.

I am, or was, a violist (viola = kinda like a big vioiln). Started violin in elementary school, fully switched to viola by high cshool. Played in high school and university orchestra, a number of musicals, operettas, and have been New York (HS) and Paris (univ) becauses of it. Don't play much any more (school) but I still pull it out occasionally. Also still have my violin, and doodle a little (not well at all) on the guitar.
Cool viola is a great instrument. I have actually been recently thinking of switching over to the viola because of my massive hands. I think it woudl be alot easier especially in the higher positions(4th, 5th 6th and up). It must have been so fun to travel all over with your music. I can't wait to do something like that. I have played in large performance halls before but they were all local. What university? who did you study under privately or at the university?
Nice to know there is another string player on C&Q. Good luck and hope you get more time in with your music.

I played the clarinet for seven years. Was in the marching and concert band in high school and was also in the county honors band. I ended up having to give it up though in order to take all my AP classes and haven't played too much since.

I play the flute and bassoon. I useed to be pretty good at both, but it's not something I do much of anymore.
I also sing. I've sung for weddings, funerals, etc. I also sing with my Church choir and with a quartet and every other chance I get! I actually recorded a CD for a Christmas present for my husband a couple of years ago.

I'm a singer, and have been singing at least since the sixth grade but I think I started even earlier than that.
Wow bagpipes is not a very common instrument here in michigan. I've actually only heard them played once or twice. Seems like they would be hard to play, but I guess any instrument is once you get to a certain point.
Becky I had no idea you were so musical, thats just something else to like about you. Ireally love the flute, and sometimes the bassoon can be the coolest sounding instrument in the whole symphony that I play in. I really like the bassoon solo in I think hector berlioz's "March to the Scaffold".
To the third year clarinetist. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK. Music is so important and the better you get at it the more oppurtunities you'll have to show others how great it is!
azn I hope you get a chance to get back into your music. It must suck not having the time to do it so much anymore.
Both becky and wahn, I admire you for your vocal skills, I tried to sing for a long time but it was something that was just too hard for me. I have not given up though, I will be getting voice lessons in the next year or so.
Thanks for all the great posts!!
