Hello everyone! I am the proud owner of 2 hedgehogs! They are so interesting; I joined this forum to learn more about them. Mine came from a breeder who wanted to get out of the hedgie breeding business (I don't know why) Mine are littermates and both females. I have them in a cage together because they are used to being together and they sleep curlde up next to each other, it's so cute! (I can't believe I am saying that something with SPIKES is CUTE!!!!) LOL Anyway, my name is Tina, I am happily married with 4 kids. My oldest daughter just shakes her head and laughs everytime I bring another critter home! "What's next Mom???" (she is 13) My youngest daughter is is 4 and she named the hedgehogs Ouchie and Softie LOL Ouchie looks almost like the hedgie on the food box (a salt and pepper?) and has shorter spiker quills and isn't as friendly (yet) as Softie. Softie has longer quills and is mostly white with some black coloring in her quills on her back. I was told they are "pinto" color. I will get some pictures taken and see if anybody can clairfy for me what colors they are since I read that pinto doesn't really describe their color, just the pattern....

I am also looking for a hedgebag I can make myself (I am pretty crafty) can anybody point me in the direction of a make-it-yourself hedgebag?

Thanks so much! I am very excited to be a part of the hedgehog family!

Tina

Welcome! Your newest additions sound so cute! I cant wait to see pics!

For a hedgie bag, I would suggest using polar fleece because other types I find they can get their nails stuck in. I took my brothers fleece hoodie (shh!) and cut a peice out and sewed a big square together. You are basically making a big enough pouch for your little girls to sleep in.

It's funny when I take Mack out with me. Everyone asks, why do you make him go in there? That's mean! Non hog owners don't understand that they love it!!

Congrats! I can't wait for pics!! Hedgie bags are easy to make-- I make them, and never had any instructions-- they are pretty simple to make!
