I'm still new to buying different colored chinchillas since my other are standard grey's. My question is I bought a ebony male that is 9 wks old, and he has a very dark brown traingle on his head. The breeder said it will go away as he grows but it so dark. Will it eventually turn black ? I don't care if it stays kinda makes him unique. I was just curious to see what breeders have to say thanks

Can you show us a picture to help you out? It may be that he is a light or medium ebony, and it is gray you are seeing, and not brown.

I'm not thinking she's seeing gray, I think the "brown" may just be off color, and reddish. I've had one kit born with the same exact thing on his forehead. It wasn't black like the rest of him, but was a reddish/brown color.. It did go away as he grew.
First picture is of the "spot" and next picture is when he was a few months older.

I have had this with a few kits also from an ebony mated to a tan. They seemed to darken and turn more black as they grew.

If it's a homo eb it will eventually blend in. When I first got mine she too had a traingular patch of darker fur.. which made me question the breeder to see if it was possible to have a TOV homo eb... but there was no TOV in my little girl's background.
