i just wanted to vent, after i bought my sick chin from an irresponsible breeder, i'm amazed to find and meet other people that bought from the same breeder. they also got sick chins.

i'm frustrated to find that there is nothing you can do about it regarding laws, you can't even warn people for fear of libel,....

this breeder is worse than the worst pet store!!!

is there nothing you can do about this?

Just out of curiosity.. what was wrong with the chin? How soon after you bought it did it get sick? Did you contact the breeder? What did he/she say?

i posted my whole story about 5 months ago, without the breeder's name of course. my chin had coccidia, mushy poop from the beginning. got treatment from a vet. i contacted the breeder and that person was kinda helpful and offered to take it back, but after two weeks i just couldn't do it - so hard to get an animal then return it.

after being in cnq, i met several other people that experienced the same problem with the same breeder. So far all of them had some kind of bacterial infection, one person had their chin die not too long after. At least one person and i both felt that us keeping our chins was better than bringing it back to the breeder.

I'm no legal expert but, I'm pretty sure it can't be considered slanderous or libel if it is true and you can prove it. Especially if you have a group of people with similar experiences.
On a personal note, could you pm or email me the breeder name. I see we are from the same state and I think I'd like to avoid this person.

I have two chins, one from a breeder and one from a petstore. I'd have to say that the chin that came from a the breeder was the sickly one (it took one month for him to recover from diahrea, and after he recovered he was fine then I went thru a bout of constipation that lasted around two months, then he relapsed with the constipation again. After a lovely vet bill, and months of laxatone, he is now fine), although the breeder was helpfull and whatnot and the chin recovered after about five months of worry and heart ache. My chin from the petstore has never been sick. Also I'd have to say that the breeder had over 200 chins and the one I got from them is very grumpy, wont let me hold him and even bites sometimes. At the petstore they only carry two or three chins at a time and socialize them, they are handled a lot. I'm not saying the breeder doesn't take care of the chins, they all had clean cages and fresh food, hay and water. I'm just telling you about my experience. Also I wasn't given a pedigree and the breeder told me my male was a "proven" breeder, and if I ever wanted my chins to have a "family" to let them know, they'd find me a nice girlfriend for my boy! I think the next time I get a chin I will check out a few different breeders before I write the check, if you know what I mean.

If the petstore chin was around the breeder chin, the breeder chin could have become ill from the petstore chin even if the petstore chin wasn't already showing symptoms.

Even though this is old, just wanted to comment here. Whether you can prove libel or slander doesn't matter on this forum. The administration refuses to be involved in that type of discussion and it would be deleted and the person posting warned and/or banned. Any discussion of this situation needs to be done off forum, not through the forum itself, or pm's if at all possible.

Thanks.

The petstore chin was purchased several months after the breeder chin, and the petstore chin was quarentened (spelling?)
