I've only has Suki for about 3 weeks now and she's really sweet and loves to spend time with me. Here's the delima... there's a hedgie that someone wants me to take because they don't have enough time for him. He's 6 months old, comes with all accessories, and is $100. I don't know what kind of a personality he has. He's been living in an aquarium with a heat lamp and a really small wire mesh wheel.
I don't know if I want to get another hedgie so soon. If it was a female I wouldn't be so hesitant, but with a male I'd have to buy a whole set of supplies again and then worry about him escaping to her cage and getting a little too friendly with her. If there's anybody around central Missouri that could give this little guy a home it'd be great and I could put you in touch with the owners, otherwise I think I might be looking at expanding my herd way sooner than I expected.

I'm in KC and am in the same boat. I have a female and want to rescue a hedgie but am not sure I am ready for keeping the 2 seperated.

I would say offer $30.00 for the hedgehog and supplies. If they're really just looking for a good home they'll except the offer. It sounds more like they're selling the hedgehog, not rehoming.
But only do that if you're sure you have the space and time and finances for a new addition.

Yea, I'm not so sure about the space issue. If I have to, I will, but I'd rather he go to someone that could give him a bigger space and more time. One hog for me at the moment is plenty. Here's a pic of him and if anyone is interested, post here or pm me.

Awww... Suki is so cute... :love2:
Nice name too, "Moon Child", is it? Sounds elegant. (Hey, I wonder if that could be the equivalent of Moon Unit, Frank Zappa's daughter's name, or more likely Zappa named her based on the Japanese name???)
If I were you, I wouldn't take the second HH in until the Tsukiko has completely settled in with me, to devote undistracted time and attention to her building a strong bond (also making sure that she has no health or behavioural issues whatsoever). However, that's just me. I know many people in this forum have multiple HHs and do just fine with each one of them, so it depends on each individual and situation, I suppose. :)

If you dont feel that you are ready for it right now- then dont. Follow that gut feeling, it knows best :)

Suki is going to continue to be spoiled without competition because I decided I'm not ready to keep two hedgies yet. Thanks to everyone who replied with their thoughts.
On another note, Suki got a bath and nails clipped earlier tonight and she was so mad at me that she wouldn't even take a treat from me!! She literally turned her head away from my hand until I took the treat away. I couldn't believe it because this girl can put away her treats when she wants to. After I put the uneffective peace offering away, she crawled up my arm and got between my arm and chest and proceeded to go to sleep there. She's such a silly little girl.
