I've been amused by the new KFC famous bowl ads where it's mashed potatoes, gravy, cheese chicken, corn all piled together. I've been piling up my food like that for years.
But that got me thinking...does anybody have comfort food recipes? You know those 'unique' dishes only your family makes.

This is my dish that I am always required to bring to family dinners.
Corn Casserole.
1 box Jiffy cornmeal
1 egg
1 can cream corn
1 can regular corn, drained
8 oz. lite sour cream
2-3 tablespoons butter
Mix all ingredients in large mixing bowl. Pour into a med to large baking dish. Bake at 400 for an hour. Use foil on top if top gets too dark.

I must be the weird one, but i find the KFC bowl absolutely disgusting! I have my food to mix. I like everything to be seperate.

nope.... i can't stand the commercial or the sight of the food... nasty..
i know, its all going to the same place, but that dont mean i want to taste them all at the same time...
i ragged on my niece the whole time she was here.. bout mixing stuff.. she won't eat a samwich w/o putting tata chips on it, she mixed her meatloaf/tatas/corn all together... ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Mixing food is good sometimes :) But I can't stand KFC :p Comfort foods? I like my mom's Chicken Noodle Dish.
Noodles(already cooked and drained)
salt
Cream of Chicken soup
One of those little cans of chicken
A can of peas(or broccolli sometimes or whatever you want)
add milk to change thickness
Then you just cook it in a pot over the stove :)

ackkk! I just got the chills at the thought of mushing my food together. I even own divided plates because I don't like my food touching. LOL

I had an Uncle that used to take foods that are supposed to be mixed together (ie Speghetti and meatballs) and seperate out every ingredient in it's own pile

I make my spaghetti sauce very chunky, and sometimes will eat the sauce seperate and just have the noodles with oil and basil. :)
