Due to some family issues as of late, Hemi's blog hasn't been updated. But, here's a quick update.
She's still doing great. She's eating nothing less that 33 kibbles a night, with the usual amount being about 38. Her weight is still holding steady at between 473 and 475grams (she's a smaller hedgehog). Her activity on the wheel has declined slightly the last couple days, but she goes through phases where she wheels for only an hour and spends the rest of the night tubing. The other night, I found her in her hedgiebag, sleeping, with her tube on her head.
The swelling on her leg hasn't changed at all, and she's still walking, running, and climbing normally. She drinks lots of water nightly (half her bowl everynight) and her poop is normal as well. No green, slimy, or weird odor. I know, my mother thinks I'm weird for talking about that.
The only different thing I've noticed about her is that she gets cold easier, and when she does, she sometimes shakes a little bit. I've only seen this twice in the last 2 months, for about 20 seconds each time, but she quickly warms up. Sometimes, I think she pretends to be cold so she can be cuddled underneath my sweatshirt, though...

I am so glad to hear that Hemi is doing fine. and that her leg has not gotten any worse. She is such a tough little girl.
Hahaha, that must look so funny when she has that tube on her head. You should take a picture next time.
Isn't it funny how cuddly some hedgies are! Romeo is like that too, he LOVES to snuggle and have me pet his belly, chin and legs. Most people are so surprised when they hear that because they think that hedgehogs are totally prickly and that you can't pet them at all. What a silly thing to believe, right?
Romeo and I will squeeze all our thumbs and paws (that's what we say in Germany instead of keeping your fingers crossed) as hard as we can that Hemi stays healthy and happy! :)

I always giggle when people ask me "doesn't it HURT to touch THAT?" ...as they point at Hemi. Of course, I have to correct and tell them that "that" is a she, and she's offended. Then I kiss her little nose. LOL.
I would have taken a picture, but my camera was slightly, well... dead. But I'll try to get one soon. Thank you for your well wishes though, I think all this positive "ebergy" is what's keeping Hemi well for so long.
German, eh? I'm half German, and from what I've seen of the country from pictures, it's beautiful.

I am so glad to hear that Hemi is doing well. Do you have a snuggle-safe disk for her to sleep on? You put it in the microwave and heat it for a few minutes, put it in a hedgie bag (or Nancy makes fleece bags custom made for this that velcro shut) and she will be able to sleep on it to warm her up.

It might hurt for people that are so offensive and unfriendly. Hedgie might come to the conclusion that a good poke was the best way to make that person more courteous next time and could teach him/her better manners!
Yes, it is VERY beautiful there, especially the southern part of Germany where I come from. We have the Alps right there, lots of green hills and lakes, great cities like Munich (Oktoberfest!), beergardens all over the place AND ... the best of all is all the wild hedgehogs running around everywhere!!! :hyper:
That's cool that you are half German. You should definitely go there someday to visit. It's lots of fun.

She has an electric heating pad that I turn on low for her. It has a flannel pillowcase over it. When she gets too warm, she drags her bag into her PVC pipe. When she gets too chilly, she drags her bag back onto the heater. But I don't leave it on all the time, only when she needs to be warmed up quickly, or she had a bath. Usually, I use a space heater to warm up my entire room for her.

Thanks for the update on Hemi. She is one little trooper, that's for sure. I'm SO glad she is doing well and continues eating and wheeling and pooping (it's not weird to talk about that stuff with us! We understand!!) And I think that "cold" thing is all an act to get snuggles! ;)
