I will be cat sitting two cats for a few weeks at my house, and they seem to surround themselves around my hedgie Fluffy's cage. They can't reach all the way in or hurt Fluffy, but they do bother her and make her hiss. I don't have an extra room to shut her up in, is there anything else I could do? Thanks! :)

Spray the cats with water every time they go near the cage? I find that can keep some cats from areas you don't want them to be in.

Thank you Sylverwynde, I will try that.

You could also try setting up tattlers by the cage. They are little motion sensor alarms that will make a loud noise if the cat goes near the cage. The cat leaves, and the alarm is silent. That might keep them away too, as long as it doesnt' scare the hedgie too much in the meantime....

Maybe the cats are curious? I found my cat was doing the same with Hemi, so I let them meet each other. I held Hemi in front of the cat, so they could sniff noses. The cat got too close, Hemi hissed and quilled her.

That was the end of that curiousity. Now, the cat will sit and watch Hemi as she plays on the floor, but will never get too close. When Hemi moves toward the cat, the cat runs away.

I agree with Hemi mygirl, whenever my grandparents come to visit they bring their little dog along. For the longest tiem I would hold my hedgie out of reach, which isnt hard when the dog is so little, but the dog really was persistent in knowing what it was...so i let the dog sniff gwen she did with an actual look of discuss and then has wanted nothing to do with her since. The same was true of my parents cat , who just scowls at my babies but never tries to go near them anymore
