Hello,
i have read the important is weight control in hedgies, and i have a doubt, how much of food must eat a hedgie? ;)
Vicky eats only cat food: royal canin light 38 and Affinity light chicken and rice.
I try to give her apple, baby food, egg, banana...but she doesn´t like them. :dunno:
She is two months and three weeks old.
Thanks once everybody :hearts:

Keep trying the fruits and things. As a baby she might not like something the first few times you offer it but she will eventually tell you what she likes. Mine like watermelon alot.
I keep dry kibble in the cage all the time. I have never had an overweight hedgehog. All of mine have wheels or plenty of playtime. Vicky is a baby and needs as much food as she can eat so just keep kibble in her cage and add fresh fruits/veggies at night.
Mine like salmon, baked chicken, sweet potatoes, watermelon, blueberries and cherries.

Since I'm monitoring Hemi's food intake, I give her 60 kibbles nightly. I've found that she rarely eats over 48 kibbles, so I gave her extra just in case. She gets fresh food nightly, with the leftovers staying in her cage all day if she gets hungry.
With Hemi, I've found she stops eating when she's not hungry anymore. She never seems to overeat.
Hemi didn't start taking treats until about 6 or 7 months old. She likes hamburger, cottage cheese, apple, nectarine (kind of), chicken, turkey and shreddies. I don't leave her treats in her cage for long periods of time, with the exception of any dry cereal type things she tries.

Like you, I was hesitant at first to just give my hedgehog as much dry food as she wanted, because you read so much about how easily they can become overweight. But I just did what every one on here told me to--let her eat as much as she wants. And I think as long as you have a good food, she should be fine.
I also definitely recommend PrettyHate's write up on hedgie foods. It was very helpful to me!

I am always agree to receive information about hedgies. :hyper:
I believe that a good owner must read and learn all about your pet/s...is the best way to give them a good life.
Thanks everyone :hearts:
