Ok, my dads birthday is on Wednesday and I am going to make dinner. But the thing is- I have no clue as of what to make! I have to make it special especially because A) Its his last birthday to be in his 30s (40 next year :p ) B) I broke his leg and C) He has surgury the next day. SOOOOO- If any of you could please help me and give me ideas and recipes for something I could make for dinner on Wednesday, I would greatly appriciate it!
Thank you!

First you need to check and see what he will be allowed to eat the night before surgery. His diet may simply be to eat nothing after a certain hour but I would check before making big plans.

Well... Non the less, I need recipes! Lol. If he cant eat the day before surgury (I completly forgot they cant sometimes....) then Im going to make dinner some other time for his birthday- it just wont be on his birthday. Thank you for reminding me though!

when he IS able to eat, i'd stick with whatever he likes best tig... just the fact that YOU made it? will mean everything to him... won't matter what it is..
and yes, some say they can only eat a light diet before surgery, some say just don't eat or drink past 12 midnight... either way, i say stick with his favorites, (heck, have an assortment and invite a few close family or friends over) and make them for him..

If he doesn't have a particular favorite, narrow it down to category, Italian, Mexican etc. That will make your search a little easier.

He'll be able to eat the night before surgery to fix a broken bone... (how'd that happen?)... he can't eat after midnight. You must have some idea what kind of food your father enjoys the most.. and you have to weigh in the fact of how capable YOU are of cooking it.

Well my favorite and my families for a special simple meal. T-bone steak marinated with soy sauce, lemon juice, garlic, worchestershire sauce, and seasoned salt for a couple of hours then cooked on the grill. Serve with a salad, baked potato, and sauteed portabella mushrooms (in olive oil and garlic powder). Very easy to fix and feels like a gourmet meal.
Okay now I'm hungry.

Have you cooked before? Is someone planning to help you? I'm with TAF on this one, pick a "theme" or a meat and figure out the rest from there.
I fixed my dad and the stepwitch an anniversary dinner when I was a kid - maybe 10 or 11. It was fish sticks, french style green beans, Kraft mac & cheese and a bottle of the grape juice that looks like wine. I was so proud of myself.
