Hi, I recently joined this group because I will be getting my first chinchillas soon. I have been reading the information here and looking at all the cute pics. I have wanted a chinchilla for about 10 years now (ever since I saw one in a pet shop.) I spoke with a few breeders out of state years ago, but I did not feel comfortable with getting them shipped to me so it never happened. (I have played with chinchillas that I have seen in the pet shops, but I prefer to buy my animals from breeders directly.) Well, I recently decided to search online for chinchillas and found 2 breeders in Florida (I am sure there are others too, but these ladies had websites that I could browse.) I opted to get 2 from Jacksonville and I'm eagerly waiting to pick them up (once my deposit clears and we make the drive.) I'll post pics when I get the little ones home. Until then, I'll continue to read the forums.
A little background info: I have been breeding fancy mice since 1989, and rats occasionally, and I have experience with a lot of other critters (I used to take in rescues too.) I'm not sure if posting a link to my website is allowed, but if it's OK then I'll post a link to my mousery website.

Welcome Charlene! Congrats on your new chins!
Most people will put links to their sites in their signature. Here are the signature guidelines I pulled from the FAQ section:
7. Signatures: While signatures are a wonderful way to advertise your website and your pets, we allow only two (2) links per signature. Any link should point to a "family-friendly" site. Additionally, links to information that may be libelous to forum members are not allowed.
Because of bandwidth constraints, we ask that you keep signatures under 10 lines (spaces/blank lines count) and without images larger than 60x120 (or 30x240) and a total size of less than 8196 bytes. This goes for one picture, multiple signatures, counters and/or banners- they have to be a total of the above. Please do not use any extra large fonts or images other than a .gif, .jpg or .png. Please do not use any more than FIVE (5) smilies in your signature. Please keep in mind that some colors are harder to read than others. Should you have any questions about what is acceptable or if you need help in converting an image, please contact a moderator.
Signatures that are found that do not comply with the rules are subject to deletion without notice by a moderator.

Congrats on getting new chins! Welcome, this is a great place to learn everything you need to know about them. I live about 45 minutes from Jax, so your like the nearest other chin owner I know..lol. I drove to South Carolina to get my 2 chins. Anywho...we will be waiting for those pics!
